Developing common language skills aimed at creating competencies for independent use and understanding of professional literature in the field of legal science and successful professional communication in English – developing the ability to use English in the function of law, understanding original legal texts, interpreting them and translating them, a comparative analysis of basic legal terms from English and Serbian. Introduction to the use of grammatical and rhetorical means of English in shaping the communication function of legal discourse.

Students are trained to independently use professional literature, write letters and CVs for various private and business situations, orally reproduce the topics covered, as well as to provide basic professional communication in English.
Language Content: Types of words. Names (type, genus, number, padež). Member (certain, indefinite, use of nouns without members). Adjectives (type, use, place, comparison). Substitutions (type, use). Verbs (type, traits, times, verb form, terrible state, verbal forms, administrative speech, time stagnation, conditionalities). Attachments (formation, place, comparison). Suggestions (use, place). Sentence (type, analysis, word order, agreement, negation). Intonation. Accent.
Thematic content: The texts of various genres are taken from English and American legal textbooks, comparative law, legal encyclopedias, magazines, legal texts, court cases, judgments and contracts, which are suitable for the acquisition of language skills and legal vocabulary. The themes refer to sources of English law, history and state regulation in Great Britain and the United States, comparative analysis of legal systems, classification of rights with comparative analysis of terms, etc. The correlation between these topics and the professional subjects studied in the second year of the study is emphasized.
