Objectives of the course

Objectives of the course are the achievement and development of scientific knowledge, academic skills and practical skills in the interpretation and application of legal rules in the field of criminal procedural law, developing creative abilities and mastering methods, procedures and processes of investigating principles and institutes of criminal procedural law, mastering specific legal skills necessary for the proper functioning of the criminal justice system in a democratic society and the rule of law, the harmonization of the process of education and the aims of the case with the achievements and contemporary trends in criminal procedural law.

Acquired knowledge

The ability of students to critically judge the role of criminal procedural law in protecting the rights of citizens on the one hand and securing social discipline on the other, with an emphasis on the principle of innocence in criminal proceedings.

Content of the subject

Concept, task, sources, validity and interpretation of criminal procedural law; basic principles of criminal procedure; jurisdiction of courts; prosecutor; damaged and private prosecutor; defense counsel; action to prove; measures to ensure the presence of the defendant; pre-criminal procedure; previous procedure; indictment; main trial; verdict; regular remedies, emergency legal remedies; shortened procedure; acts performed in an organized way; proceedings against minors; measures of safety; rehabilitation procedure; the cessation of the legal consequences of conviction and security measures; procedure for compensation of damages; the procedure for issuing a warrant and publication.

Teaching methods and material mastering

Lectures, exercises, consultations, written examinations (colloquiums) individual student work (seminar and homework, papers, etc.), as well as group participation of students in the study of certain thematic units.
