Objectives of the course

Introducing students with basic characteristics, concepts and institutes of international public law, social processes and laws governing the international community and legal technique that creates a specific normative order and regulates relations between states and international organizations and other entities – individuals of international interest.

Acquired knowledge

Ability of students to master knowledge useful for proper interpretation and application of norms of international public law, achieving the initial level of practical operability in the field of interaction communication of subjects of international relations (diplomacy) and the use of acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of rationalization and logical application of norms and procedures contained in international judicial instruments and bodies.

Content of the subject

The notion of international public law; the emergence and development of international public law; doctrine of international public law; relation between internal and international public law; formal sources of international public law; subjects of international public law; country; recognition of states and governments; basic rights and obligations of states; jurisdiction of the state in international law; responsibility of the state; bodies for maintaining international relations; multilateral diplomacy; succession of states; borders in international law; ways of acquiring and losing state territory; international service; international rivers; maritime area; airspace; polar authorities; cosmic space; rules of international contract law; international organizations; united nations; International Court of Justice.

Teaching methods and material mastering

Lectures, exercises, consultations, written examinations (colloquiums) individual student work (seminar and homework, papers, etc.), as well as group participation of students in the study of certain thematic units.
